World Golf Hall of Fame Promotes New Bob Hope Exhibition During The 50th Bob Hope Classic Hosted by Arnold Palmer

St. Augustine, Fla. (January 15, 2009) – The World Golf Hall of Fame has worked with tournament organizers for next week’s 50th Bob Hope Classic Hosted by Arnold Palmer to promote the museum’s newest featured exhibition, “Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory.”

From a feature on Golf Channel’s telecast to coverage in the tournament program and banners in the clubhouses, guests of the tournament will have the chance to learn more about the special exhibition that is on display throughout 2009 at the Hall of Fame.

Guests who visit the museum will find rich storytelling alongside more than 400 artifacts—many of which have never been on public display—and over 300 images as they wind through a variety of stories designed to reflect the different eras and locations significant to Bob Hope’s life, including England, Cleveland, New York, Hollywood, Palm Springs, Washington D.C. and sites of USO shows around the world.

Hall of Fame Member Arnold Palmer narrates the “Opening Monologue,” a video presentation in the specially-created Bob Hope Theater featuring some of Hope’s best-known golf stand-up and skits, as well as tributes from some of the game’s most recognizable personalities.

With use of a hand-held audio guide, guests have the opportunity to hear Hope recount various important events in his life, as well as the voices of his family and friends—including Hall of Fame members and presidents—sharing stories and tributes to the comedian in over 30 specific locations throughout the exhibit.

Hope is considered by many to be one of golf’s greatest promoters and a dedicated amateur who admitted to playing more than 2,000 golf courses around the world—often with celebrities, professionals and even presidents. Hope’s affection for golf went beyond playing, making an impact as an author, promoter, sponsor and educator of the game. The exhibition looks at the various ways he championed the game, including the development and hosting of the PGA TOUR’s Bob Hope Classic Hosted by Arnold Palmer.
