St. Augustine, Fla. (June 10, 2009) – “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” will open Wednesday, June 24 on the largest IMAX screen in Northeast Florida at the 2D World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX® Theater, debuting concurrently with the nationwide release. The first official showing of the film will take place at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. Tickets for the special engagement are currently available on www.wgv.com or in the IMAX Theater box office. Individuals also may have the opportunity to win tickets to the 12:01 a.m. showing on the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater’s Facebook page beginning the week of June 15.
Featuring select scenes filmed specifically with IMAX cameras, the battle for the universe has just begun in the highly anticipated “Transformers” sequel. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots, believing that peace was possible, finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with than meets the eye. The film introduces additional robots and the scope has been expanded to numerous countries, the most important of which is Egypt.
Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg return in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” as director and executive producer respectively, while actor Shia LaBeouf reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the human caught in the war between Autobots and Decepticons. Also from the first “Transformers” release, returning to the big screen is Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro.
“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is distributed by DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material and brief drug material. The film runs approximately two hours and 31 minutes.
Tickets to the special engagement of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater are $13 for adults, $12 for military, seniors and students at $9 for children ages three through 12. Matinee pricing (Monday through Friday before 5 p.m.) is $9 for all guests.
