World Golf Hall of Fame celebrating Presidents Day weekend with activities in Museum and IMAX Theater
St. Augustine, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2013) -- The World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum will celebrate Presidents Day Weekend with a series of exciting events and giveaways including a Hawaii golf vacation, and the debut of "The Last Reef 3D" in the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater.
The Hall of Fame is celebrating Presidents Day and its Hall of Fame member Presidents George H.W. Bush and Dwight D. Eisenhower with several special activities and the chance to win two different golf vacations.
In honor of President Eisenhower signing Hawaii in as the 50th state in 1959, the first person to hit a hole-in-one at the 150-yard Challenge Hole will win a Hawaiian dream golf vacation. The first fifty shots each day from Friday, Feb. 15 - Sunday, Feb 17 will be eligible for the contest. Participants will pay $5 for two shots (or $10 for five shots) and the first person to make a hole-in-one on their first shot wins the grand prize. The vacation is an eight-day, seven-night trip that includes an oceanfront room, golf and airfare for two to the Hapuna Beach Golf Resort in Hawaii.
From Feb. 15-18, visitors to the Hall of Fame will have another chance to win a golf vacation by taking a special scavenger hunt through the Museum. Participants will be entered to win a Presidential Treatment Weekend at World Golf Village that includes an overnight stay in the Presidential Suite at the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort, golf and a VIP tour of the Hall of Fame. In addition to the scavenger hunt, guests can learn about Presidents Bush and Eisenhower, and take their photo with the Presidents Cup trophy. Active and former military receive $10 admission to the Museum and children under 12 are free.
In addition to the activities at the Hall of Fame, the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater is welcoming another acclaimed documentary film to the lineup. "The Last Reef 3D" premieres on Friday, Feb. 15 and takes audiences on a journey to magnificent ocean reefs around the world.
Local author and ocean conservationist Frank Gromling will be at the IMAX Theater on opening night for a meet-and-greet and book signing between 6-7 p.m. He will introduce both the 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. shows. Guests will also enjoy "A Taste of the South Pacific," with a sampling of Polynesian-inspired appetizers from 6:30-7 p.m.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, from 12-3 p.m., the public is invited to learn about marine conservation efforts on the First Coast, courtesy of Jacksonville University's Marine Science Research Institute, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Sea Grant. The family friendly event will also have a bounce house and a drawing for a family four-pack of tickets to the Florida Aquarium and a two-night stay at the Mainsail Suites in Tampa (no purchase necessary).
The IMAX Theater is also running a special offer for Presidents Day weekend, giving guests the chance to see two documentaries for $10. "Flight of the Butterflies 3D" and "To The Arctic 3D" will also be playing. The offer is good from 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 through the last film on Monday, Feb. 18.
