Father's Day Weekend at World Golf Village

St. Augustine, Fla. (June 8, 2011) -- The World Golf Village will be hosting family-friendly events throughout Father's Day weekend. Vettes at the Village drives in on Saturday, June 18 and the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum will be offering free admission and special event activities on Sunday, June 19.

Returning for its 12th year, Vettes at the Village is a Corvette car show featuring over 100 classic, late model and custom Corvettes around the Walk of Champions. The show starts at 10 a.m. and will conclude with an awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the World Golf Hall of Fame will celebrate Father's Day by offering free admission to the public. In addition, dads will also receive a special gift bag filled with coupons and gift certificates (while supplies last) and a complimentary round on the Hall of Fame's 18-hole natural grass putting course.

Fathers will also receive half-price admission to one film at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater showing "Born to be Wild 3D", "Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D", and Walt Disney Pictures "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides An IMAX 3D Experience." The event is being sponsored by Shell Oil Company, Coca-Cola, Ring Power, First Florida Credit Union, PING and AT&T.

Since the final round of the U.S. Open takes place on Father's Day, visitors will be able to take photos with the U.S. Open trophy. There will be storytellers in the museum and a self-guided tour highlighting items like the putter World Golf Hall of Fame member Ernie Els used to win the 1997 U.S. Open. Television coverage of the U.S. Open will be broadcasted in the Hall of Fame during the day.

A variety of activities will be going on throughout the day including a putting contest, games on the golf simulator, and a closest-to-the-pin contest on the Hall of Fame's Challenge Hole. Prizes for these contests include rounds at the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire golf courses, a $100 gift certificate to Spa Laterra, a pair of week-long grounds passes to the 2012 PLAYERS Championship, a family 4-pack of tickets to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, and a three-day, two-night stay at the Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort in St. Augustine.
