Hall of Fame member Colin Montgomerie successfully defended his title at the 76th Senior PGA Championship on the French Lick Resort’s Dye Course, which was designed by Hall of Fame member Pete Dye. Montgomerie is the first to uphold the Senior PGA Championship title since Hall of Fame member Hale Irwin’s three consecutive wins from 1996-1998. This win marks his third senior major, along with 31 European Tour wins, the most of any British player.

Montgomerie finished at 8-under 280 with a final round 3-under 69, winning the tournament by four shots. He began the final round three ahead of fellow Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer, and four ahead of Esteban Toledo. While Toledo also shot an impressive final round 69, it wasn’t enough to overtake the defending champion.

“Colin’s passion and determination in the game of golf is well-represented in the manner with which he plays,” said Jack Peter, Chief Operating Officer of the World Golf Hall of Fame. “We are thrilled to see his continued success at this stage in his career, and congratulate him on his third Senior Major Championship.”

Colin Montgomerie was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013 alongside Fred Couples, Willie Park, Jr., Ken Schofield and Ken Venturi.
